TRAVEL SPECIAL..... Never too late for a SWISS holiday

Never too late for a SWISS holiday

So what if summer is over, it’s still not too late to travel to Switzerland with Switzerland Tourism this year
Have you ever looked at the wallpaper on your screen that showcases the vibrant, warm colours of autumn and resisted the strong urge to jump right into the picture? Yes? Then head straight to Switzerland to experience the season of Fall in all its unmatched glory!
The Swiss forests and trees are ablaze with dazzling hues and shades of red, orange and yellow. Autumn in Switzerland is truly magical as you can feel the shift in seasons from warm summer days to cold winter nights.
It’s also the ideal time for great deals! Since this is a ‘shoulder season’, there is more choice, more special offers and since most of the summer tourists have left, there is more serenity, more space, more of everything to enjoy in beautiful surroundings.
And of course there are some special events at this time of the year that gives you more reasons to visit.
Grape Harvest Festival
Many people are not aware that there are a lot of vineyards all over Switzerland – even using tiny spaces on steep hills and in valleys to grow grapes for some very delicious wines. However, since the overall production of wine by small independent families is so limited, it’s unusual to find Swiss wine outside Switzerland – even in Europe.
Naturally, when the grapes are ready to be harvested in autumn, there is a Harvest Festival all over Switzerland. Following a religious service in the morning, the parade starts with many colourful floats, bands and local participants leading up to the festival party tents for the rest of the evening.
The Lavaux Region
This is also the best time to visit this Unesco heritage site. Stroll or bike through the region stopping at the many little vineyards to try the local wine and produce. For those who are looking for a more relaxed way, there is of course the little train – the Lavaux Express.

And if autumn is too soon to plan a trip, there’s still December when winter sets in and the mountains are covered in snow. When the skies are blue, the air is clear and there are Christmas celebrations all over the country.

Christmas is that time of year when the air is filled with love and magic. The Swiss Christmas typically lasts from the beginning of Advent (December 2, 2018) to the end of Epiphany (January 6, 2019). Several Christmas markets are seen during this period in Switzerland, which makes this festive season even more delightful for visitors.
