SMARTPHONE SPECIAL .....How to wipe all data from your smartphone

How to wipe all data from your smartphone

Planning to buy a new smartphone? Make sure you completely wipe your old handset

Smartphones have become a crucial part of our lives. We literally feed off them and can’t live a minute without them. Since we carry so much on our smartphones, it makes them our kryptonite more than any other everyday tool.
With smartphone makers shortening their upgrade cycles to offer ‘better’ models, we are forced to change our handsets more often than we actually should. And in the whole excitement of moving onto a new and improved device, we tend to get hasty and at times forget removing every bit of that important data. Here is an easy guide you should follow before passing on that old handset to someone:
Android
Considering Android is an open OS, things are a bit flexible and easy to go through. In case you are moving to a new Android device, then make sure you have synced all your apps to your Google account. This can be done by going to Settings and then entering the Accounts section. In that you will find your Google account. Tapping on to it brings up your various settings that can be synced. You can also sync your Calendar, Chrome data, and every other Google service that you might use.
Your data should be automatically backed up. To make sure, go to the Backup and reset section under Settings and see if backup is on and you have selected an account. You also have an option to perform an automatic restore data when you reinstall an app on your new device.
Once everything is backed up, we can now begin the clearing process. Go to Settings, Backup and Restore and hit Factory Data Reset. There will be an option to erase the internal storage as well. Since you are completely disposing off the phone, you should clear everything.

iOS
If you are getting rid of an old iPhone, then here’s what you need to do: backup your iPhone on your iCloud or by using iTunes to your computer. In case you own an Apple Watch, unpair it so as to avoid any issues when you pair it to your new iPhone.
It’s time to clear out the data. Sign out of iCloud, by going into Settings, tapping your name and hitting Sign Out right at the bottom of the menu. Feed in your Apple ID and password and tap Turn Off. To remove all your data, go back to Settings, General and scroll down to Reset and hit Erase All Content and Settings. If you are planning to move to an Android device, make sure you have turned off iMessage before you reset your iPhone so that you don’t miss any incoming messages on your new phone.
