Trick the summer sun
Travelling this summer with
family for a long holiday, here are some handy tips
While planning a summer
trip with friends or family, we all want our trip to go off without a hitch.
Think before you pack:
Remembering to pack every
last thing for each family member can be exhausting. Here's a packing tip:
Visualise in your head and go down each portion of your body, and write down
what you may need for each section while traveling. Do the same for your children.
You can always cross items off the list later.
Have foresight:
If your travels include
driving, save money by packing a cooler with food and drinks. Avoid ATM fees by
taking out cash with a debit card purchase at a grocery store or gas station.
Also, save money on the vacation itself by bundling hotel airfare and
activities.
Make good use of your hand luggage:
Pack one extra change of
clothes for each person in their carry-on bag. Approx 29 million pieces of
luggage are lost or delayed/misplaced every year across the world. If your bag
is one of them, having a set of clothes to change into while you are waiting
for your luggage to be found is a lifesaver.
Pack Old Underthings?
Packing light might be one
way to bring home extra souvenirs, but so is packing your oldest undergarments
As you and your family wear old undergarments throughout the trip throw them
out the next day . This lightens your suitcase and or make room for cool
souvenirs along the way .
How to Keep Kids Occupied:
If your destination is
hours away, premake binders for each child that include a colouring book, blank
paper, crossword puzzles and activity sheets. Also include a zipper bag of crayons
and blank papers.
Stay healthy:
Go over the itinerary
several times before you leave. Pack all necessary medicines, ointments and
cough syrups you may be. Also if you're visiting a beach destination remember
to pack in two pairs of swimwear for yourself and the kids. And in case you're
visiting the hills, carry a shawl or sweater as the temperatures may drop.
Pack a Travel Insurance Plan:
A travel insurance plan can
cover you for things that may go wrong while travelling. Also look at the plan
that covers lost luggage claim, cashless hospitalisation and more.
Pack Healthy Snacks:
It's way too easy to eat
junk when you travel--all that fast food! Make the smart decision and pack
yourself some healthy treats for when you are onthe-go. Watermelon and cucumber
are very hydrating and cooling.Oranges are always a good choice because the
smell is a proven mood lifter and helps to relieve stress of annoying airplane
seatmates or highway traffic. Cherries and blueberries are also great summer
snacks because it's their peak season.
