Take your book wherever you go
The new 7-inch tablet is the most compact reading device
yet
Tech and e-commerce
giant Amazon’s Fire 7 tablet has new competition. Barnes & Noble just
launched a new $50 Nook with a 7-inch IPS display, which the company says is
its ‘most compact and affordable’ one yet.
When it comes to internal storage, the bookseller’s
new 7-inch Nook beats Amazon’s Fire 7. The former comes with 16GB of storage
for your books, doubling what the Fire 7 offers for the same price. Both have a
microSD slot for expandable storage, but the Fire 7 allows for cards up to
256GB while the new Nook supports up to 128GB.
As for other features, the Nook has a VGA camera on
the front, a 2MP shooter at the back, Bluetooth support, a headphone jack,
speaker, microphone, and it offers full access to the Google Play Store for all
your app needs. In terms of battery life, Barnes & Noble says it allows up
to seven hours of reading, watching videos and browsing the web.
“The new Nook 7-inch tablet is a lightweight and
affordable option for book lovers who also want the ability to browse, send
emails, and listen to music,” says Barnes & Noble’s Chief Digital Officer
Bill Wood, in a statement. “We think this new tablet will delight both current
Nook users as well as introduce new customers to this affordable Nook device.”
Barnes & Noble also offers free in-store support,
which is helpful if you run into any issues or need help setting up your new
Nook.
