Family vacation in the winters
This season, enjoy your time with family in the snow and try kid-friendly
adventure
WOW! SNOW FLAKES ALL AROUND
Region: Auli
Located in Chamoli District, the beautiful resort
town of Auli is truly a paradise for snow-enthusiasts. When it snows during winters, skiiers make a
beeline here. We suggest that you opt for a resort stay where the windows would
open to the panoramic views of the Himalayan
range.
Auli is the kind of destination where pleasure and
adventure go hand-in-hand. The climate is so pleasant that you feel energised
to walk all around town with the soft glow of the sun lighting up your paths.
Take a moment to notice the canopy built with Deodar
and Oak trees that cover the slopes. Photography here is another delightful
activity.
There are many fabulous eco lodges here. You can
indulge in the Himalayan experience of towering peaks by living in them. Take
some time to visit the Nanda Devi
Sanctuary. Leisurely take a stroll around in the day to go sightseeing. For trekkers, here’s good news.
The Gurson and Auli r Trekking Expedition can be
undertaken from here. You will drive the holy towns of Haridwar, Rishikesh and
move along the Ganges (say a little prayer for world peace) and then move ahead
on a trek to Parsari Village.
Go ahead and explore the hot springs at Tapovan. Ready?
RE-KINDLE YOUR ROMANCE,
BOLLYWOOD STYLE
Region: Kufri
Developed as a tourist destination by the British
back in 1819, Kufri is a spectacular winter getaway. Not only would you get
panoramic views of the Himalayas, you can also try your hands at adventure sports, steep hikes and even a few filmi
sightseeing spots.
THINGS TO DO IN KUFRI:
Trek up the Mahasu Peak — it is the highest point in Kufri. Take to fine
hill-top views. On a clear day you can even see the Badrinath and Kedarnath
ranges. For beginners, take couple lessons to learn skiing at the Mahasu Ridge. Later, offer your
prayers for a year full of thankfulness at the Nag Devta Temple (Kufri’s local deity is the Snake God).
Visit the Himalayan Nature Park (also referred to as the Kufri National
Park). It is home to over 180 species of birds and many rare animals. If you
are lucky, you may be able to spot snow leopard hangul (kashmir stag), barking
deer, musk deer and brown bear. Take prior permission and go camping inside the park. Your kids
will just love the feeling of being amidst the flora and fauna.
