GADGET GIZMO REVIEW Asus Zenbook UX305

GADGET GIZMO REVIEW

 Asus Zenbook UX305

 PRICE `49,990
SPECIFICATIONS 13.3-inch full HD screen (matte finish), Intel Core M-5Y10, 4GB RAM, 256GB solid-state disk, 10-hour battery life, 3 x USB 3.0 ports, micro HDMI out, SD card reader, 3.5mm headphone jack, 1.2kg Stunning ultra-slim and ultra-light design, small one-piece charger, beautiful brushed metal finish, long battery life Limited performance with a Core M processor, could do with a brighter screen and backlit keyboard

Asus Zenbook has always commanded a premium while others like the VivoBook were considered the more affordable workhorses. Not this time though, because this Zenbook is priced under the `50k mark  probably a psychological barrier for a lot of people too.
Seen from the side, it’s shaped like a wedge. And at 12.3mm thick, it can actually be slipped underneath some doors when closed. Unlike a regular laptop, there are no vents in this machine. It’s a completely fanless (and hence silent) design. Low cooling requirements is another aspect that contributes to the slim design.
The signature spun metal finish (like concentric circles, converging into the Asus logo) on the lid is extraordinary because it looks fantastic and glints in very little light. They call the colour Obsidian Stone: its slate grey with a hint of violet. Much more can be written about just how good looking the UX305 is, but you need to see it in person to fully appreciate it.
The keyboard is chiclet-style with full size keys (though not backlit). The screen is fantastic because it matte and doesn’t have any harsh reflections. It offers great colours, fantastic viewing angles (178 degrees up & down) and adequate brightness. The screen opens till about 120 degrees  we wished it opened to a flat 180 though.
Performance is nothing extraordinary  but it gets the job done. This is not a machine for someone looking for blazing speed  it’s for someone who appreciates the design, weight and long battery life (which the Core M processor contributes to). You can still do effortless office, web, multimedia, photo editing and some light gaming  plus it outputs to a larger screen projector with HDMI. It can be both a sturdy business machine and stylish everyday carry-around. It’s refreshing to see such a premium-looking device available at an accessible price. And a price that is very close to the US Dollar price we might add. There’s nothing else iteshle at this price with this good a design and with 256GB of solid state memory . If you want a stylish laptop for day-to-day use in the `50,000 range, this should be at the top of your list.Highly recommended!
