GIZMO REVIEW Micromax Canvas Knight 2
PRICE Rs 16,999
The first Canvas Knight impressed us
with stylish design and the Knight 2 improves upon it further. It has a slim,
unibody design with metal frame and glass front and rear. Note that the power
and volume buttons are on the left side of the phone unlike the usual placement
on top or on the right side. If you're switching from another Android phone, it
will take a couple of days to get used to this layout.
While the 5-inch amoled HD display
is gorgeous with excellent viewing angles, we didn't like the thick bezels. It
makes the phone almost as large as some with a 5.5-inch displays. Plus, the
Android buttons are on the screen, so the bezel at the bottom is a complete waste
of space.
Day-to-day performance is great. The
octa core Snapdragon 615 with 2GB RAM keeps things running smoothly and allows
for seamless switching between running apps too. However, as expected the
2,230mAh battery struggles to last one full day. With constant data connectivity
, mix use of multimedia, calls and social networks, the phone would regularly
be dead by evening.
We weren't expecting much from the
camera, but the Knight 2 surprised us with the camera performance. Images from
the rear camera came out to be detailed with minimal noise and rich colours.
Low light shots had visible noise, but they were still good enough for sharing
on social network or whatsapp. Front camera also took good images outdoors as
well as indoors.
The Knight 2 is the first smartphone
from Micromax with 4G connectivity support. In our opinion, the Knight 2 is
amongst the better options in its price range and is future ready. However, it
will face steep competition from the Xioami Mi 4 that is now available for
`14,999. Keep in mind though that the Mi 4 does not have 4G or expandable
storage.
