India Inc's Rising Women Leaders 2015
1. SOMA GHOSH
SOMA
GHOSH, VP, MARKETING,INDIA AND SOUTH ASIA,
CATROL
INDIA
manager
at Johnson & Johnson which she joined soon after studying
management
at SP Jain Institute in Mumbai. In her current role, she's
pulled
off a similar feat, being the first woman to be VP marketing at
Castrol
India. Her key achievements to date include launching global skincare
brands
Nivea and Neutrogena in India, and being a part of the team that helped
Castrol
go from a market cap of $2.4billion to $4 billion in 2.5 years.
Going
ahead, while continuing on her current growth trajectory is very much
on
the agenda, she's a firm believer that the journey of life has to progress
at
multiple levels including the intellectual, social and spiritual.
She's
been taking lessons on writing for films and is hoping to be able
to
do more with it in the future.
Rather
than one particular mentor, Ghosh say that she's learnt a lot about
different
leadership styles by observing the various people she's worked
with
and now has a leadership statement that she tries to follow.
While
she didn't have to deal with any gen der discrimination she says that it
is
a fact that women have to work twice as hard to be half as noticed.
The
glass ceiling: “It will exist till there is critical mass of women at
decision
making levels“
Advice
to other women: “Stay authentic, courageous and curious and lean in,
whenever,
wherever you can“,
