FROM MUMBAI: SILVASSA, 170 KMS, 2 HRS, 30 MINS APPROX
    
Situated in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Silvassa is an upcoming weekend destination for Mumbaikars. A treat for trekkers and backpackers, the area around the industrial city is home to beautiful rural landscapes. Silvassa is especially enticing for wildlife adventure seekers.
    A former Portuguese enclave, one can visit various colonial structures around. Another attraction in the city is the Lion Safari Wildlife Park, home to the Asiatic lion. The traditions and culture of Silvassa’s tribal communities is preserved in the city’s Tribal Museum. The museum offers a deep understanding of the culture
of the Wari people who happen to be inhabitants of this area.
    Dudhani, a lake with water sport activities and Ban Ganga Lake, famous for its boating are great places to spend time at while here.
    The outskirts of Silvassa, dotted with hills and streams are a treat for nature lovers looking for a bit of adventure. By Road: Drive on NH 8, SH 5, onto SH 185 to SAILY Road. By Rail: Vapi is the closest railhead.
FROM DELHI: PANNA NATIONAL PARK, 678 KMS, 10 HRS APPROX
    
Panna National Park, situated in north Madhya Pradesh is famous for its bears, wolves and deer, but most importantly for its tigers, and is one of the country’s best reserves for the endangered animal. Over 200 species of birds are found in the national park and around. These include the white necked stork, bareheaded goose, honey Buzzard, King vulture, Blossom headed Parakeet, Paradise flycatcher and Slaty headed Scimitar babbler to name a few.
    Authorities don’t provide jeep safaris and visitors will have to rent their own jeep for a automobile safari. A good option, however, is to try the elephant safari. The Ken River lodge offers night safaris, which are a favourite with many visitors.
    While in the Panna region, one can visit the Rajgarh Palace, a magnificent piece of architecture overlooking the valley.
    Khajurao is close by and a pit stop here to check out India’s most famed erotic sculptures is worth the trip. By Road: From Noida Link Road head to SH 71, left at MDR 11 B, right onto NH 75. By Rail: Panna does not have a railway station. Jhansi Jn is the nearest railhead.
FROM BANGALORE: DEVBAGH, 533 KMS, 8 HRS APPROX
