FROM MUMBAI: NAL SAROVAR BIRD SANCTUARY, GUJARAT, 587 KMS, 8 HRS 15 MINS
    Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary, about 64 kms to the west of Ahmedabad in Gujarat, consists of a huge lake and ambient marshes. The shallow area and ponds on the outer fringes of the lake attract birds that feed in the shallow waters. Winter migrants from the north such as the Rosy Pelicans, Flamingos, White Storks, Brahminy Ducks and Herons are spotted here. November to February is considered a good time to visit this lake to see the migratory birds. Take a stroll early in the morning to see ducks, geese, pelicans and flamingos as the lake is also calm just before sunrise.Tour the surroundings of the lake on a horse or hire a boat to cover the waters.
By Road: Get onto Western Express highway and continue on NH 8. Then take the Ahmedabad Vadodara expressway and make your way to SH 136.  
By Rail: Closest railway station is located 40 kms away at Virangam.  

FROM DELHI: KUCHESAR, UTTAR PRADESH, 84 KMS, 1 HOUR 50 MINUTES
    The Mud Fort at Kuchesar is a famous tourist attraction in Uttar Pradesh. Constructed by the Jat ruler, this 18th century fort is situated amidst lush green fields. The Mud Fort has now been converted into a heritage hotel. The holy River Ganges is just 24 kms away from here, so you can easily catch a glimpse of life on the banks as well. Kuchesar is surrounded with greenery and you can go for nature walks, spend leisure time with family and enjoy bullock cart rides. If you wish to explore further, 30 kms ahead of Kuchesar are the towns of Hastinapur and Ghaziabad.
By Road: Continue on NH 24 - towards Dasna, Pilkhuwa, Hapur bypass before Hapur City.  
By Rail: The nearest railway head is Hapur Railway Station at a distance of 25 km from Kuchesar. 

FROM BANGALORE: PATTADAKKAL, KARNATAKA, 449 KMS, 7 HRS 20 MINS
    
Pattadakkal town is situated in Bagalkot district of Karnataka and is over 22 km away from the town of Badami. Boasting of many world heritage sites that are known for ancient architecture in its midst, some of the temples in Pattadakkal date back to the eighth century. What makes these temples unique is that they were built in a style that displays the best of the Dravidian and the Nagara style of architecture. The temples earned the title of UNESCO heritage site back in 1987. Once here, make sure you see the special attraction — 10 temples of the region. Four out of the 10 temples were built in Nagara style and four were built using Dravidian style. Two temples embodied both the styles. If you are an enthusiast of architecture and history, Pattadakkal is just the destination you must head to this weekend.  
By Road: Get onto NH 4. Reach Tumkur Road. Reach Turuvanur Rd and get onto NH 13.  
By Rail: The closest railway station is at Badami.
