From blockchain to
triple rear cameras, each handset has something to surprise you
The year 2018 has seen the launch of several
big-ticket smartphones. Many of these raised the bar of what a ‘flagship’
smartphone should be. Not just top-end specifications, many of them also boast
of innovative features. Here are eight handsets launched this year that come
with ‘world’s first’ features.
Vivo X20 Plus UD —Smartphone
with in-screen fingerprint
Vivo X20 Plus UD is the world’s first handset that
sports an in-screen fingerprint sensor. The firm has brought this tech to a
couple of more handsets as well. Other specifications of the smartphone include
6.43-inch AMOLED FullHD+ display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, 4GB RAM,
12MP+5MP rear camera, 128GB inbuilt storage.
Huawei P20 Pro — Smartphone with
triple rear cameras
The three rear cameras of the handset include a 20MP
monochrome sensor, 40MP RGB sensor and an 8MP telephoto sensor. Some of the
other specifications are 6.1-inch FullHD+ OLED display, 24MP front-facing
camera, octa-core Kirin 970 processor, 6GB RAM, 128GB inbuilt storage, and
4000mAh battery.
Vivo Nex — All-screen smartphone
with pop-up camera
It is the world’s first to sport a pop-up camera and
an in-screen fingerprint sensor. It features a 6.59-inch FHD+ Super Amoled
screen, 12MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor,
8GB RAM and 4000mAh battery.
Samsung Galaxy S9+ — Smartphone
with variable aperture and dual OIS
Samsung Galaxy S9+ is the world’s first to feature a
variable aperture and dual OIS in rear cameras. It has two 12MP sensors at the
back and an 8MP front-facing camera. Some of the other specifications are
Exynos 9810 processor, 6GB RAM, 64GB inbuilt storage and 3500mAh battery.
Energizer Power Max P16K Pro —
Smartphone with 16,000mAh battery
Energizer Power Max P16K Pro was launched at MWC 2018
and is the first to come with a massive 16,000mAh non-removable battery. Some
of the other specifications are a 5.99-inch full-HD display, octa-core MediaTek
Helio P25, 6GB RAM, 128GB inbuilt storage, 16MP+13MP rear cameras and 13MP+5MP
front-facing cameras.
Asus ROG Phone — Smartphone
featuring Amoled screen with 90Hz refresh rate
The ROG Phone is not just Asus’s first gaming
smartphone but also the world’s first to sport an AMOLED display with 90Hz
refresh rate. It also has dual charging ports with squeezable sides. Some other
specifications are six-inch fullHD+ display, 2MP (with OIS) + 8MP rear cameras,
octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, 8GB RAM and 4000mAh battery.
HTC Exodus — Blockchain phone
HTC took everyone by surprise earlier this year as it
launched what can be called the world’s first blockchain-powered smartphone –
Exodus. The smartphone is said to support popular digital currencies such as
Bitcoin, Ethereum and more.
SikurPhone — Smartphone with
built-in cryptocurrency wallet
Sikur, a Brazilian firm, launched the world’s first
smartphone with a built-in cryptocurrency wallet called SikurPhone. The
smartphone comes as a successor to the company’s GranitePhone and is claimed to
be ‘hack-proof .
