GADGET GIZMO REVIEW HTC Desire

SPECIFICATIONS
4.5-inch (854 x 480 pixels), 1.3Ghz quad core
Mediatek processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB + microSD, 5MP rear + VGA camera, 3G,

video recording, stock Android UI Low resolution display, poor still camera
performance, average battery life
In 2013, HTC solely focused on their flagship HTC One. This was
probably the reason they lost a substantial share in the growing entry and
midrange smartphone segment. Now, in 2014, they are looking to get a
foothold into the segment starting with the HTC Desire 310.
Unlike usual HTC Android smartphones, the Desire 310 does not include Sense
UI. Instead it comes with a stock Android interface with minor tweaks to
deliver a smooth performance. HTC has also included the BlinkFeed section,
video highlights, app drawer interface and the customised HTC keyboard on
the phone.
At 140 grams, the phone feels heavy for its size. However, in typical HTC
fashion, it is well built with no creaking or flexing of the panels. The
matte finish on the rear provides a good grip but tends to develop
scratches over time. The 4.5-inch display has good viewing angles but
average brightness. It's also a fingerprint magnet and the Android buttons
are on the screen which takes up screen space while running apps.
Performance was good thanks to the stock user interface. We were able to
play a 720p HD video as well as games like Subway Surfers and Temple Run 2
without any problems. The rear 5MP fixed focus camera was sort of a
letdown. The images it captured were too noisy and the lack of an LED flash
made it useless in low light environments. The only good thing is that the
Desire 310 records full HD video in good quality. The 2,000mAh battery
struggled to last a single day with mix use of multimedia, calling and social
networking. Overall, the Desire 310 tries hard to impress but fails in
comparison to the Moto G in every aspect (except expandable storage). The
Moto G offers better hardware, better screen, software, performance, camera
and battery life when compared with the Desire 310.
