LG’s has revamped its mid range dual SIM offerings with the launch of L90 dual. This dual SIM phone is one of the few available in the sub 20,000 bracket with the latest Android 4.4 OS. It has some pretty impressive features for the price.
For its screen size, the phone feels just right in terms of weight and dimensions. It has narrow bezels and follows a similar design ethos as the flagship LG G2. The display itself offers superb viewing angles and thanks to LG’s Optimus UI, looks sharper than what it really is. The textured finish on the back panel gives it a premium look and provides good grip. One issue we faced was that the four capacitive touch buttons under the display (back, menu, home and SIM management) are not backlit.
LG has included features like quiet mode, night brightness, multiple screen off effects, smart screen (screen stays on when phone detects your face) and smart video (video pauses when you look away). The L90 dual also has an IR blaster — one of the few phones in this price range to offer a built in remote control function. It is also one of the first phones to feature LG's Knock Code security. Knock Code lets you secure your device using a pattern of taps inside a square area on the lock screen. It's easy to use but for a bystander, it's next to impossible to figure out how to unlock the device.
In terms of performance, the phone is capable of playing most games and also plays full HD videos without an issue. The 8MP rear camera takes average quality images — it's not really very fast and noise is visible indoors, but the photos are good enough for sharing online. Battery life was excellent: easily a full day with 15-20% battery remaining. Overall, we think the L90 is impressive and highly recommended.
