GADGET GIZMO REVIEW Micromax Canvas Doodle 2
If you looked at or felt the Doodle 2, you’d be surprised to know it’s a Micromax. The aluminium back feels sturdy and looks great. However, the finishing isn’t as refined as the Note 3 and the K900.
The 5.7-inch screen is HD while all others are FullHD, but where it really falters is in the missing Gorilla Glass – so your screen is suspect to scratches.
There is no slot to dock the packaged stylus and there isn’t much effort from Micromax in optimising the OS for it, so the stylus feels like a gimmick. The camera doles out noisy photographs with blooming around light sources, while shots lack detail in low light. But the processor does well, whether it’s playing HD games, watching HD movies or Internet browsing. It only wheezes while doing two of these simultaneously. For all its faults, the Doodle 2 has great battery life, lasting about 17 hours of average usage.
Specifications:
The Doodle 2 features a Mediatek MT658 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1280x720 5.7-inch screen, 12MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, 16GB internal memory, 1GB RAM, FM radio, GPS with A-GPS, WiFi-n, Bluetooth 4.0, Accelerometer and Proximity sensor.
If you are looking for a big-size smartphone with a good battery, at Rs 19,990 this is the cheapest way to get it. But you get what you pay for – the substandard camera, the lack of Gorilla Glass protection, and the useless stylus.
