PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY SPECIAL.... How responsible are you?

SPECIAL How responsible are you?

Possess these few simple traits, and you have won the responsible man lottery. Check them off the list

From CEOs of companies to pro fessional athletes, successful people across the globe share a single powerful habit -being responsible. Over the years, the responsibilities of men have increased. But one thing is certain, there are specific traits that define a responsible man:

Control your emotions
An inability to rein your emotions can prove to be problematic in both your personal and professional life. Rather than suppressing your feelings, work on venting them while controlling your words and actions. For example, if you are angry at someone, don't lash out. Instead, remain calm and collected -you'll be the better man for it.

Sincerity
Sincerity is the foundation of character and integrity. Be sure of your actions, without any excuses. Accept blame as readily as you do credit. Be prepared for the consequences of your decisions and make the right ones so as to minimise those occasions where you must shoulder responsibility for a task gone awry.

Give back
There have been instances where you have asked people for favours.Responsible men return the favour and help out others. It may not necessarily mean financially; instead, donate your time or skills to someone for their betterment.
Spend time with family and friends
Be sure to visit your relatives often. If you can't, then keep in touch with them. Ca l l them and catch up. The same applies to your buddies.Even if you're all marri and busy, try to get together every week. Go out for a cup of coffee or a round of golf and talk.

Overcome character flaws
Everyone has character flaws. Make a sincere effort to become aware of your habits, traits and overall personality.Listen to what your friends and family say about your behaviour. Work on eliminating character weaknesses and enhancing your strong traits; for example, if your work ethic is lacking, resolve to put in a greater effort at work every day.

Mind your manners
One of the most essential qualities of a responsible man is the way he treat others through words or actions. This reflects directly on you: You're a walking, talking billboard for yourself. So advertise your good manners. If you don't, people won't like you, won't want to hire you and won't want to date you. In short, treat others the same way you expect to be treated.

Believe in yourself
Do what you think is right for yourself, not what others think is right for you. In other words, follow your bliss. And don't compare yourself with others, especially with regard to material gain, or you'll likely feel inadequate. Take a chance on a career path you've always dreamed of, but never followed.

Meet your goals
A responsible man fixes his goals and makes a solid plan.
Without defined goals and a solid plan, your life will become a daily grind that provides little happiness and even less ful filment. Start by writing down daily, weekly and monthly goals for your self. Then resolve to meet them.
