The big ticket launches at CES 2016
Over the years CES has
witnessed some impressive and path-breaking technologies. 2016 is no different
By far the biggest
electronics and gadget show, the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas,
USA, attract gadget manufacturers from all over the world to showcase their
latest tech innovations. Check out some of the cool stuff that wowed the world
so far:
Nikon's first action camera
Nikon's getting into the action camera game with a 360 camera, the KeyMission
360. Nikon claims it takes true 360-degree video, capable of capturing
recordings in 4K.
It's water resistant up to
30 meters without a separate housing, and resistant to dust, shocks and low
temperatures. While more details are awaited, we guess it's going to be the
perfect companion for those with a heart for surfing or skiing and capturing
themselves riding the wave or mountains.
Turntable made a comeback
Panasonic is also riding
the retro wave with a new version of its classic turntable, named the SL-1200G.
The new system doesn't just look great, Panasonic says it has also improved
sound quality. We haven't got a price yet, but we don't expect it to be cheap.
Bear in mind that DJs are still the main market here.
Sony joins the 4K HDR TV fray
HDR has taken over TVs at
CES 2016. Sony is the latest to announce that its forthcoming 4K Bravias -the
XBR-X930D, XBR-X940D and XBR-X850D series -are going HDR. Soon, our TVs will
produce higher brightness, higher contrast and more vibrant colours.
Joining the tablet competition
The Huawei MediaPad M2 is a
big tablet that happens to be a big part of the Chinese company's ambitious
strategy to surpass Apple and Samsung in two years.It is a landscape-focused,
10-inch Android tablet that's thin and light with an aluminium build.The slick
tablet design packs four speaker grills into its metal frame. This means it's
not quite as sub-pencil thin or as light as the iPad.
The fully connected electric car
Following are new focus on
electric mobility and fully connected cars, Volkswagen has unveiled the BUDD-e concept
car. The BUDD-e is a zero-emissions, batterypowered vehicle, boasting up to 373
miles of range on a full charge, according to Volkswagen.It features interfaces
that are controlled with simple hand gestures and offers connectivity that
links to other smart devices between the car and home.
