1 TAKE A TREECYCLE:

When in Adelaide, travel slow, liter ally. 2 PICNIC AT ELDER PARK:


Adelaide is blessed with good weather on most days, so plan a day out to Elder Park, located near Lake Torrens, bang in the heart of the city. Laze in the sun, lay out your picnic blanket, rent a paddleboat or simply hire a bicycle and enjoy the beautiful views of the lake.Elder Park is home to the Adelaide Festival Centre, Convention Centre, railway station and casino ­ enough to keep you busy all day!


3 GET ON THAT ROOF:


Cricket lovers can head to the pic turesque test cricket ground ­ Adelaide Oval. Register for a 2-hour guided climb across the stadium's unique roofline. Put on your suit and safety harness and enjoy stunning views of the city.You can even book an evening climb. At the end of the tour, you get an achievement certificate and a snap for keepsake.TIP: Don't forget to browse through Bradman Collection Museum ­ home to Sir Don Bradman's personal memorabilia.


4 FEEL ARTY IN ADELAIDE:


Walk towards North Terrace that marks the edge of the city centre, and on the way drop by at the GPO (General Post Office) ­ a masterpiece de signed in the 1870s.


Every art lover's dream, the JamFactory at 19 Morphett St exhibits Adelaide's most exciting ceramics, furniture, glass and other contemporary craftwork.


5 RELISH A LOCAL MEAL:


Taste the true flavour of this land by grabbing lunchdinner at a local restaurant. Try some kangaroo crackers, scallops with lemon, mayonnaise, ice plant and karkalla (local fruit) at Blackwood restaurant or sip on craft beer at Lady Burra Brewhouse.


6 FOR THE LOVE OF VINTAGE WHEELS:


Visit the National Motor Museum at Birdwood ­ a pleasant 60-minute drive from the city centre. With more than 400 vintage vehicles on display, the collection documents the history of road transport in Australia.


BE A BEACH BUM


There's a beach for every kind of vacationer
Hop on the tram that takes you to Moseley Square, a few metres away from the family-friendly Glenelg beach. Soak in the Victorian architecture here and then go to the beach for a day well spent. Head to Brighton for eclectic cafés and restaurants. Semaphore beach provides a rare glimpse of pre-war Australia. Aldinga beach and Sellicks beach are good snorkelling and scuba diving spots. Henley is a 40-minute cycle trip from the city and known for its fish and chips.Grange beach, a 20-minute walk from Henley, is good for some quiet time.
