Micromax
LapBook
Micromax
has entered into the laptop segment with their new Lapbook. Before this, they
did launch a hybrid two-in-one device with the LapTab, but the Lapbook falls
into the proper laptop category .
Weighing
just 1.3kg, the Lapbook feels well built and is easy to carry. The top-lid has
a brushed pattern finish while the bezel around the display has a matte finish.
The chiclet style keyboard offers good feedback and is comfortable to use (but
the keys are not backlit). The single-piece trackpad works well with Windows 10
gestures and the size is comfortable for a laptop of this size.
The
11.6-inch display has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Keep in mind that
unlike the hybrids, this one is not a touchscreen. The screen is bright with
good viewing angles and works great for browsing, multimedia as well as editing
Office documents.
Hardware
includes a quad core Intel Atom processor, 2GB RAM and 32GB storage. It comes
with Windows 10 and works surprisingly well -boot time was less than 10
seconds. We had no issues playing full HD videos and even managed to do basic
photo editing in Adobe Lightroom. Kudos to Micromax for not installing any
bloatware on the Lapbook.
You
get dual USB ports (one on either side), full size HDMI port and a microSD slot
for storage expansion. The front webcam suffers from excessive noise -unless you
urgently need to video call someone, we suggest that you avoid the webcam.
Speaker output is loud and clear -good enough to use in a small size room.
Battery
life was also impressive -we managed to get close to 6 hours backup with normal
use. For the price, we feel that the Micromax Canvas Lapbook is a great option
for students as well as users who don't want to carry a big laptop, yet require
adequate performance and functionality on a budget.
