How to stay healthy this summer
Now that summer is at its peak,
there are certain tips that you need to keep in mind while venturing out in
sun, and enjoying summer to its fullest.
EXERCISE IS A MUST
Summer is one of the best times to
lose weight as your appetite drops a lot. But weight loss during summer should
be done in a healthier manner, says fitness expert Ravi Rawal. “Make sure that
you don't miss your regular workouts. Opt for more cardio related exercises
such as running, cycling, jogging, dance aerobics or even brisk walks. Also,
early mornings and post dusk are favourable for workouts. Remember to drink
loads of water, as loss of water will result in muscle cramps during workouts.“
DIET TIPS
“While we love to indulge in
mangoes, don't go overboard.Include lots of fruits and vegetables, which are
higher in water content. As the chances of dehydration are high, your fluid
intake should increase. Water, fresh fruit and vegetable juices, buttermilk,
coconut water are beneficial.Avoid packaged food and aerated drinks as they
have higher content of sugar and salt, which will dehydrate water from your
body,“ advises Sohini Shah, consulting dietician.Adds consulting physician, Dr
Raghu Satyanarayan, “Avoid packaged food, packaged water, roadside golas and
sugarcane juice. Opt for home-cooked food, raw vegetables, fruits and natural
sources of liquids such as coconut water, lemon juice, and buttermilk as much
as possible.“
SKIN AND HAIR NEED CARE TOO
“Use sunscreen with a minimum of SPF
50 before venturing out. Cover you head with a hat or a dupatta. If you have a
sweaty , oily scalp, washing it regularly will help. Excess oil in the scalp
attracts dust and germs, which can cause scalp breakout and hairfall. Keep
yourself hydrated and eat fresh fruits,“ suggests beautician and cosmetologist
Tanvi Godiawala Shah.
