GADGET GIZMO REVIEW.............. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1

GADGET GIZMO REVIEW  Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1

PRICE 49,990 (2014 edition)
SPECIFICATIONS 10.1-inch 2560 x 1600 pixel LCD, Exynos Octa core (1.9Ghz quad + 1.3Ghz Quad), 3GB RAM, 32GB + micro SD, 8MP rear + 2MP front cam, Android 4.3, BT 4.0, NFC, WiFi, 8,220mAh, 535 grams The best tablet for drawing/doodling, 3G, calling, good performance, high quality screen All-plastic construction does not inspire confidence, chrome surround looks cheap, only one top-spec variant
There’s a clear difference between a regular tablet and a Samsung Note. To users of the Note series, the advantage is clear – the S Pen pressure-sensitive stylus is a cut above any other stylus, with true precision for drawing and writing tasks. This 2014 edition of the Note 10.1 carries forward the feature but adds in several features found on Samsung’s flagship Note 3 such as Air Command (memo, scrapbook, screenwrite accessible from anywhere) & Pen Window (draw a box with the stylus & have an app inside it).
Since the Note 10.1 also has Multi Window (for two apps side by side), you can be doing four things at once — two apps, one Pen Window and one Pop up video. Because of the large screen, this is all possible and very easily doable. No other Android or iOS tablet allows this.
The design follows the new direction that the Note 3 has taken — textured back panel with faux stitching. While it’s an improvement over the previous version (and is also lighter, thinner, with smaller bezels), most people we showed the tablet to did not like the all-plastic design.
The 2560 x 1600 pixel display is pin sharp, has excellent colours, viewing angles and touch. We found no issues with performance (a slight lag or two will be fixed in firmware), call quality or signal strength. The 8MP camera takes high quality photos and 1080p video. Battery life is excellent too — almost 9.5 hours of continuous video playback.
There’s no doubt in our minds that the Note 10.1 is an awesome productivity tool. But having just one, fully-loaded version seems silly. Not everyone wants 3G, voice calling and 32GB of internal storage (especially since it has a micro SD slot). Samsung should offer a cheaper 10.1 with lower storage and without a cellular radio while keeping all other features. A 16GB WiFi only Note 10.1 for 35,000 would be a really sweet deal. For a bit less than the Note 10,1, you can also get the 10.1-inch, waterproof Sony Xperia Tablet Z.
