TECH REVIEW Nokia Lumia 625
PRICE 19,999
Nokia now has a number of Lumia phones in the sub 20,000 range to take
the fight to the Android competition. So in addition to the capable Lumia
620 and 720, the Lumia 625 is the newest device to join the ranks.
Build quality of the 625 is great. It has a slim design compared to the
Lumia 620 even though it weighs a hefty 159 grams. The matte finish on the
rear cover makes for a good grip and does not get scratched easily.
However, we noticed that the bright colours (yellow, orange, bright green
and white) do tend to get dirty quickly. One of the most prominent feature
of the Lumia 625 is the 4.7-inch display. Although the display has a
disappointing resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, it is the largest display
available on a Windows Phone device. The touch response and viewing angles
are good.
The phone is great for multimedia enthusiasts for various reasons. The
speaker output is loud and clear and so is the audio output in headphones
thanks to the Dolby enhancement. The price includes a subscription to ‘Your
Movies’ — an app that lets you stream full movies to your phone for free.
Shame that it only works free for 90 days though.
Camera quality is average — photos are good only in daylight. Thankfully,
video recording in full HD is good quality.
As expected from the 2,000mAh battery, the Lumia 625 lasted a full day on a
full charge. It's hard to understand that why Nokia launched a device in
the same price as their own Lumia 720. The Lumia 720 has a much better
camera, NFC and similar hardware specifications but with a smaller 4.3-inch
display. If you want Windows, we recommend Lumia 720 instead of the Lumia
625.
