TECH REVIEW SMARTPHONE Celkon A119Q Signature HD
PRICE 12,499
SPECIFICATIONS 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels), 1.2Ghz quad core, 1GB RAM, 4GB storage + MicroSD, 12MP rear + 2MP front cam, 2,000mAh battery, Android 4.2, 177g Great performance, good still and video camera results, loud speaker output Bulky design, average battery backup
The Celkon A119Q Signature HD is one of the first budget smartphones to combine a 5-inch HD display, quad core processor and a 12MP camera – specifications very impressive on paper.
The performance from the Mediatek quad-core is the same as we have seen on other Android smartphones with similar specs. We got an AnTuTu benchmark score of 13,107 and thanks to the 1GB RAM, there was no visible sluggishness even with multiple apps running in the background. For the camera phone enthusiasts, the 12MP camera on the phone takes good images in daylight as well as indoors. Noise is visible but only when you view the image at full resolution. Video recording is supported at 720p resolution and the quality is great. Moreover, the phone has one of the loudest speakers we have heard recently.
The A119Q is 9.3mm thick and weighs a hefty 177 grams. Even though the weight makes the phone feel sturdier and the chrome edges give it an elegant look, the phone feels bulky to carry around. The 5-inch display with a 1280 x 720 pixels resolution is vibrant, had good viewing angles and is readable even under direct sunlight.
It lasts one day with the 2100mAh battery – as expected. At Rs 12,499, the Celkon smartphone is an impressive device. If you can get by the weight, the phone delivers great value for money. Otherwise, consider the Micromax Canvas HD A116 for 13,500. It is lighter (156 grams), than the Celkon, has similar specifications and performance but comes with an 8MP camera instead of 12MP.
