SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIAL ...9 Pinterest features that mean business

9 Pinterest features that mean business

Whether you are a first-time pinner or use it daily for your personal or business needs, here is how to get the most out of the social network

With 175 million monthly active users, Pinterest is one of the most popular social networks in the world. But most people are probably missing out on hidden features and cool tricks that enhance the experience, or simply make life easier.

1. Visual search to find specific items
By tapping the magnifying glass in the corner of a pin, you can look up specific items in the image. Pinterest will then show you similar pieces and items that you can actually purchase. If you see something you like, you can add it to your cart from a third-party retailer without ever leaving the app.

2. Camera to identify things
Pinterest's Lens feature lets you use your smartphone's camera to identify decor, clothing, and food you see in the real world. By pointing your camera at a pair of shoes, for instance, you will be able to see similar styles on Pinterest.

3. The browser extension
Its browser extension helps you save links that you find on the web to the Pinterest app.
Once it is enabled, you will see a red `save' button when you hover over images on the web.
The extension is available for Chrome, Safari, and Firefox.

4. Move pins in batches
If your work needs you to transfer several pins to a new board, Pinterest offers an easy tool to make it happen. By clicking on one of your boards on the desktop version, you will see a select tool at the top of the page. That will let you select multiple pins and move them, copy them, or delete them altogether.

5. Rearrange boards
The web version of Pinterest makes it easy to rearrange your boards in the order that is most convenient, rather than the order you created them. Simply click and drag a board to move it to the front -on mobile, it will appear on the top.

6. A secret board
When you make a new board, Pinterest gives you the option to keep it secret, which means it is hidden from everyone unless you share it yourself. Secret boards could help you plan a product launch, a surprise event, or simply keep your pins hidden from the general public.

7. Collaborate with friends and family
When starting a new board, Pinterest gives you the option to add fellow collaborators who can see the board and add their own pins. Pinterest recommends using this feature to plan events or vacations, creating a reading list, or planning to remodel your home.

    8. Use filters to narrow down recipe search results
Recipe filters make it easier to find something to cook. You can narrow down your search by a specific diet, how long you want it to take, and what ingredients you already have in your kitchen.

9. Check off ideas
After you have tried something you pinned, you can go back and tap the checkmark at the top of the pin to say you have done it. Plus, you can add photos of your own version of it and leave a review or tip.
