Simplicity is the name of this router's forte
It is a well-designed,
minimalistic WiFi device that makes managing your network easy and reliable
If you are remotely
techsavvy and want simpler, more reliable WiFi with better controls for all
your devices, Starry Station is well worth considering. It is not like most
routers in its price range. Instead of chasing after the fastest speeds and
longest range, the Starry Station is all about two things: convenience and
aesthetic.
The triangular design and
curious LCD display make the Starry Station a welcome addition to your home
whether it's sitting atop your desk or on a coffee table in your living room.
For about $299, the Starry Station promises to simplify WiFi in your house with
an interface that makes sense and controls that work. That is, coupled with
placing your router in a place you likely never have: out in the open and
central in your home.
The most important facet of
the Station's design is that it is crafted to look appealing enough that
wouldn't inspire users to shove it in the closet or under a desk. With its
triangular design and soft edges, coupled with a rounded touchscreen, Starry
largely achieves this.
Inside, the whole thing is
powered by two dual-core processors -one for the network and one the interface,
respectively. The system runs on 1.5GB RAM and 8GB Flash storage, to run the
interface and store updates and log data, and also sports an 802.15ac radio for
IoT devices.
With the Station, you are going
to enjoy download speeds that remain at their peak for longer with fewer dips
in MBps.
Sure, it's slightly
expensive for what it is, considering it offers little performance advantage
over your internet service provider's regular router, but what the Starry
Station lacks, it more .than makes up for in style and ease-of-use
