WORKPLACE SPECIAL ....WINNING THE POPULAR VOTE

WINNING THE POPULAR VOTE
Follow these six easy tricks if you are looking to make a positive impression at your workplace

Are you the office clown, the life of the party, or the one that makes heads turn with your dressing style? Or are your dressing style? Or are you the one who wishes to be as popular as your colleagues? After spending 7 to 10 hours every day at work, it is quite natural to feel this way. Somebody might be more talented or better at communication compared to you. But, being popular is not out of your reach. Make these few changes if you want to be a crowd-pleaser:

1 CALL YOUR COLLEAGUES BY THEIR FIRST NAME
A person's name forms as a critical connection to their identity and calling your colleagues by their name is the perfect way to gain their attention. The greeting will not only make them feel special but it will also show that you are interested in making a conversation with them. To gain importance, you need to give importance.

2 SENSE WORK ON YOUR OF HUMOUR
Not everyone is gifted with a good sense of humour and if being funny doesn't come naturally to you, you do not have to be spontaneous. Think of a joke beforehand that will work well. However, remember you shouldn't offend anyone. The idea is to make the other person like your company.

3 PROVIDE SEEK AND HELP
When you ask your workmates for small favours, they will feel important and wanted. So seek such favours. However, do not misuse it to the extent of irritating the person. Also, whenever possible, volunteer to help them in return. And go out of your way to help people who need it.

4 LISTEN MORE THAN YOU TALK
A popular person is someone who is approachable and is a good listener. Nobody likes someone who is more interested in proving their point instead of participating in a healthy discussion and giving everybody the chance to talk. Everyone wants to be heard, so listen. This will give you a better understanding of who they are and they will feel important.

5 GIVE GENUINE COMPLIMENTS
Appreciating others reflects your self-confidence and your sense of self. Compliment a person when you like something about them. You will make thei r day. However, make sure that it is genuine.

6 REMEMBER YOUR STRENGTHS
Keep reminding yourself of your strengths. If you've been hired for a job, you must have something to offer to the team. Focus on the strengths you possess, rather than the skills or knowledge you lack. And trust your self. Remember, you are unique in your own way and that is also one of your strengths.
