Breathtaking views & glorious food
When you travel, you must
indulge in world's chic eateries. Ready?
BANGKOK
CALLING
High above the
thoroughfares of Bangkok, this elegant open-air rooftop (former helipad)
restaurant imparts accurate denotation to the word vertigo and comes alive at
sunset for a matchless view of the Thai capital. To sit there are three options,
a private party lounge, Moon Bar under a canopy of stars and a dining
courtyard. The restaurant's forte lies in the careful selection of the finest
and freshest ingredients taken to perfect effect. Another specialty is their
forktender Lamb Loin and their Duck Foie Gras is to die for! Dessert is a dip
into the pool of divine decadence. In essence, there is no wrong menu choice
the Vertigo chefs unfailingly offer superlative cuisine.
SINGAPORE'S LURE
Tucked away near Asia's
largest tulip garden, Halia creams you away from the hurry of Singapore
transferring you into a delightful world of flora and fauna. The menu focuses
on the root of the food and showcases modern European cuisine with occasional
touches of Asian spices. The kitchen makes complete use of the surfeit of local
spices available in Singapore which results in a multi-dimensional taste
experience. Famous as the patio of the kitchen creatives, this is
unquestionably one of the key cabinets of what is the best in Singapore
gastronomy .
MORE FUN AT OTTAWA
In a magical setting
surrounding a pretty courtyard, the chef reaps the regional Ottawa produce and
channels them through his creative and refined cuisine, teeming with flavours
and respectful of the product. House made fish cakes with celeriac Remoulade, apple
and grainy mustard is served with the most arty flair without negotiating on
the taste, a most original dish beyond creative but still `organic' as opposed
to science experiments.
SOMETHING STARRY AT BERLIN
Nestled in the heart of the
city's utmost exciting square, the Gendarmenmarkt, The Regent offers the
splendour of stylish design and the luxury of a world class hotel and swanks a
2 Michelin star, aka the Fischers Fritz, restaurant.French-influenced creations
and the gorgeous set menus by Chef Christian are outstanding. The roasted cod
with borscht vegetables and coriander whey for example is a star dish as is the
crispy baked Onsen egg with black chanterelles, cauliflower purée with lemon
salt and lobster bisque, with a well-balanced bouquet of flavours with
perfectly cooked. This is one restaurant that lives up to its hype.
MARRAKECH MAGIC
Positioned within La
Mamounia in a separate building (old-world charm) converted into a glitzy
Moroccan speciality restaurant neighbouring the gardens; the setting couldn't
be better. It is replete with Moroccan artefacts, sheer curtains, lamp lights
in the lounge and bar area spectacularly displayed across the restaurant
augmenting the Mediterranean mood! Chef Rachid Agouray who helms the kitchen at
the Hotel has taken care to keep the cuisine at its unspoiled best. The food is
amazing. On offer here are two menus one that focuses on traditional dishes and
the second that offers a more contemporary take on Moroccan oroccan tastes.Good
service and La Mamounia has that in spades. La Mamounia the mirage. It's no
surprise Churchill came here time and again.
