INTERNET SPECIAL... Browser options for you

Browser options for you

Here are some browsers for computers, tablets and mobiles that offer unique features not available even in popular ones like Internet Explorer or Firefox.

ALL-IN-ONE SUITE
Along with a versatile Web browser based on Firefox, SeaMonkey includes an e-mail and newsgroup client. You also get an RSS feed reader, HTML editor and IRC chat application—all in a single interface. This makes SeaMonkey very useful for those who do not want to have multiple programs running. Various add-ons are also available to add more features.

EVERYTHING ON FINGERTIPS
Skyfire displays a browser window and a toolbar below it, which is customisable. The toolbar has icon links to various sites and Web apps, which makes it easy to access favourites quickly. So you don’t have to open a new tab or visit the bookmarks section. In Android devices, you can also share a page with other apps or like it on Facebook using the toolbar icons, while in iOS, the browser comes with Flash video playback support.
CLOUD-POWERED
Puffin utilises cloud to offer improved features and performance. It allows you to save files from the Net directly to your cloud storage (limited to 100 MB per file) to save data costs. It also supports Flash content by running Flash over the cloud instead of the device. If you play Flash games, the browser overlays the virtual gamepad controls on the running game for ease of control. The free version limits you to a two-week trial, but you can buy the app for 162.
SLIM & LIGHTWEIGHT
Midori’s simple, yet elegant, interface does not offer the bells and whistles of more popular browsers. However, it consumes minimal resources, making it the best option for older computers, where you want a fast browser that does not hamper performance. Available for Windows and Linux, it comes with an integrated ad blocker and a download manager.

FLASH GAMES LOVER
With this browser, you can run Flash-based games, videos or websites on your Android (free) device or iPad ( 290). When you visit a site with Flash content, touch the lightning icon on the toolbar and the browser window will refresh loading the Flash content. You can adjust bandwidth speed for optimal Flash experience, depending on your data transfer speed.
UTILISE THE CLOUD
Available for Windows, Mac, Android and iOS, Maxthon comes with its own cloud services. It lets you share and sync files, links and bookmarks, as well as open tabs across devices and operating systems. You can save files in the cloud storage for quick access on other devices. Other useful features include an ad blocker, track eraser, automatic form filler and an extension centre for adding features.

DOWNLOADER’S PARADISE
Torch Browser has a built-in support for torrent downloads and an integrated accelerator for speedy downloads. It also has in-built media features that help you search media files on the Internet to either play or download them. The one-touch media grabber lets you download videos and songs from any website without the need for third-party add-ons or managers. The glitch: it’s available only for Windows.

LOADED WITH FEATURES
This one comes with a password manager, ad blocker and pop-up blocker. It also offers secure browsing, proxy switcher, multi-threaded download manager and a weather forecast display for your area. You can integrate Slimboat with various online services, such as Twitter, Google Plus, Gmail, and Facebook, to quickly share any website/image from within the browser window, as well as download YouTube videos in MP4 format, for offline viewing.

FEATURE PHONE USER
Smartphones have a plethora of browsers, but for feature phone users, Opera Mini is the best choice. The free app offers tabbed browsing, built-in download manager, privacy mode, and also saves on data usage by using proprietary compression technology for Web pages.
The Bolt browser offers Facebook and Twitter integration, so it’s easy to post updates from within the browser. It also offers tabbed browsing and supports playback from video-sharing sites like YouTube (videos can be played within the browser). Bolt’s data transfer options let you choose high or low quality image rendering to save data usage.
FOR BIG SCREEN TABLETS
As the name suggests, the Side by Side free browser lets you use the large display of your iPad efficiently by running two browser windows adjacently. You can adjust the sizes of the windows, split them vertically or horizontally, even take notes on each screen. The notes can be sent via mail or saved directly to your dropbox storage.
The Split Browser has the same split-screen browsing for Android. The app lets you adjust the size of each window and allows you to open links and bookmarks in the separate windows. The app has a trial version which closes automatically after five minutes of use and limits you to three tabs. The paid version costs 215.
