Five Ways ToWork From Home Efficiently

Five Ways ToWork From Home Efficiently

MANY EMPLOYERS offer the flexibility of working from home, which not only saves them costs but also offers you the extra time to manage your work and life better. Ways to manage your workfrom-home (WFH) schedule better.

1 Be Responsible
A work-from-home day is still a work day for you, so get going on your tasks responsibly. "Be disciplined to complete whatever work you have pending," says NS Rajan, partner and global practice leader, people and organistion, Ernst & Young.
2 Keep a Time-Table
Chalk out your to-do list when you start working. "This will help you not only maintain the pace of your work but will also help you finish work on time save the extra time for your personal work which is an intended bonus," says Adil Malia, president, group HR, Essar.
3 Get Organised
Identify a place as your workplace at home. "Don’t work from your bed, sofa set or your reclining chair, which is the normal tendency while working from home. Doing that will make you lethargic towards your work-from-home schedule," says Malia. Keep your notepad, research papers or phone handy so as to not lose time searching around for them.
4 Re-Visit your Schedule
"It’s still an eight-hour day so to finish your work on time, keep revisiting your timelines for different tasks," adds Mr Rajan. Strike out those you have already finished. And you will not only ‘manage a work-from-home’ day efficiently but will be happy to have been as productive as in office. Besides, when you request for another WFH day, your boss will be happy to give it to you.
5 Cover up for Breaks
"If something urgent takes up your time while at home, be sure to cover it up with additional work time. Also be sure to close your home office at a particular time. Just hanging around with your PC or laptop does not serve any purpose; neither quality work time nor good personal time," says Rajan
