Refresh your screen time with widescreen monitors
If you need deeper immersion and additional screen real
estate for productivity and play, don’t stop short of aspect ratio that’s 21:9
or even better 32:9
LG 38WK95C-W
Choosing the de facto ‘best’ ultrawide monitor is
difficult, as the purpose of the display dictates which one you should buy.
That said, the LG 38WK95C-W strikes an impressive balance with massive size,
high resolution and a slew of built-in connections. The slightly higher than
UHD resolution makes text ultra-crisp on the monitor, and the colour accurate
IPS panel is perfect for video editors, designers, and photographers.
Acer Predator X34P
The Acer Predator X34P has everything you want to see
in an ultrawide monitor. It features a clean aesthetic that manages to attract
graphic heavy users without being nauseating, a large 35-inch, 100Hz IPS panel,
and a 1900R curve on top of a thin but highly durable frame. Despite being over
four years old, the Predator X34P still holds the crown for being one of the
best ultrawide monitors.
Massdrop Vast
The Massdrop Vast is a jack of all trades. It has a
professional composure, but the pro users may not find the panel quality high
enough. That said, it’s a great choice for casual users. With a 100Hz refresh
rate and 2ms G2G response time, the Vast is one of the few UHD ultrawide
monitors that are less than $600 but provides an excellent graphics and
interactive experience.
Dell UltraSharp U3417W
With a slick design and excellent colour accuracy,
the Dell UltraSharp U3417W monitor is a great choice for video editors,
graphics designers and photographers. It’s excellent at productivity and
affordable than most others in its category. Out of the box, the 60Hz IPS panel
sports 99 per cent coverage of the sRGB colour space, which should be fine for
most professionals.
Samsung CHG90
The Samsung CHG90 QLED monitor promises to deliver an
IMAXstyle cinematic viewing experience. The 49-inch super ultra-wide 32:9 HDR
(High Dynamic Range) monitor has a 3840x1080 resolution and a 1800R curvature
to offer an immersive user experience. The over-sized screen enables peak
performance throughout a graphic-intensive use while the 32:9 aspect ratio
allows to see scenes in their entirety.
LG 34UM60-P
Despite the LG 34UM60-P monitor’s bottom of the
barrel pricing, it delivers a great, if not perfect, ultrawide experience.
Specswise, it’s decent — it sports a 2,560x1,080-pixel IPS panel with
surprisingly good colour accuracy, 5ms response time and 75Hz refresh rate. It
provides just enough features to be considered a serious ultrawide while
skipping in a few areas to achieve a low price point.
