THE ROAD LESS TRAVELLED
KNOWN FOR ITS PRISTINE SANDY BEACHES AND BEAUTIFUL SUNSETS, GOA DOESN'T FAIL TO MESMERISE, NO MATTER WHAT TIME OF THE YEAR YOU DECIDE TO VISIT

There's nothing better than spending a long weekend on some of the most beautiful beaches in Goa, enjoying the sunset, devouring great local cuisine and feeling completely rejuvenated. This tiny emerald on the west coast of India has become quite a tourist paradise and the numbers just keep increasing every year. Here are some of the hidden gems in Goa you simply can't miss out on.

BUTTERFLY BEACH
Inaccessible by road Named after the throngs of colourful butterflies fluttering around here, Butterfly Beach is a hidden beach located about 37 kilometres from Margao. Heavily forested on all sides, the beach is accessible to avid hikers, who have to spend two hours hiking to reach here. Others can arrive here by boat from the close-by Palolem Beach. Due to its inaccessibility by road, this beach is almost completely deserted and doesn't even house too many shops, which is why travellers are advised to carry all the essentials.Adorned with golden sands and translucent shallow waters, the shore is littered with crabs and goldfishes during low tides. This is a paradise for early risers as sea urchins, sea cucumbers and redfish can be sighted early in the morning. The beach is also popular for the playful dolphins swimming around it. Boasting of a breathtakingly beautiful sunset, this beach must be visited for a truly magical experience with nature.

HOLLANT BEACH

This beach offers splendid and scenic views of the surroundings as it is nestled along the lush green foothills of the Western Ghats. It looks even more alluring during high tide, when you can see the freshwater of a nearby stream merge into the salty seawater. Since there are no strong currents, the clear waters near this beach are completely safe for enthusiastic swimmers. Located about seven kilometres from Vasco city, there are no major hotels found here.
