1 GUNUNG GEDE PANGRANGO NATIONAL PARK
This
amazing national park is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Network of Biosphere
Reserves.Boasting of two volcanic peaks (Mount Gede and Mount Pangrango), it is
situated in West Java. You can enter the park through the Cibodas, Gunung
Putri, and Selabintana gates. Take some pictures in the lush tea plantations
around the park. park.
NOTE:
Check on weather conditions before you set foot near the peaks and park.
2 MASADA NATIONAL PARK
The
Masada National Park is located on top of an isolated rock plateau in the
Southern District of Israel. For a dose of history, head here to witness many
historic cultural attractions. It is the ancient site of Herod the Great's
palaces.
NOTE:
Read up about the ancient site to understand the views better. A guided tour is
recommended here.
3 KHAO SOK NATIONAL PARK
Located
just two hours north of Phuket, equip yourself with a camera and visit this
lush green national park, which is home to Asian elephants, tigers, tapirs and
macaques. Listen to the rare birds chirp on high branches as you walk through
this spectacular rainforest.
NOTE:
Take some time out to venture into sightseeing nearby to the markets of Phuket
for traditional Thai goodies.
4 JIUZHAI VALLEY NATIONAL PARK
Make some
notes when you visit the nine Tibetan villages in this national park. The
villagers are friendly and like to boast about the 220 bird species here. We
suggest you take a guided tour and understand the many endangered plant and animal
species like giant panda and Sichuan takin. You will find bright orchid
varieties here.
NOTE:
Take your binoculars along to spot the birds perched up high. Stay on the track
as some endangered plants grow in the wild.
5 XE PIAN NATIONAL PROTECTED AREA
Monkeying
around gets a new twists here as head to the Cambodian border, Xe Pian is
renowned for its gibbon population. You will also get a chance to spot Asian
elephants, tigers and the cuddly (but keep a distance) Asian black bear. Take
some time out to go by the riverside as dolphins reside in the three rivers
that run through the deciduous forests and vast flatlands.
NOTE:
Wild animals do not like tourists venturing too close to their young ones. Keep
their habitat protected.
