PERSONAL SPECIAL.. RIGHT CHOICE - Matter over money?

RIGHT CHOICE -
Matter over money?

SOUNDS CONTRARY TO THE COMMON PERCEPTION,
BUT BOTH, EXPERTS AND YOUNG WORKING PROFESSIONALS
 FEEL THE SAME

“Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.“
Les Brown
Whether to choose a career that pays well or a career that brings you
fulfillment is the million-dollar question in every professional's life.
And the choice is immensely important as it can have long-term
consequences.
At the age of 25, would you pursue a good paying corporate job that
makes you unhappy or a job that makes you happy, but has no guarantee
of paying  your bills?
Talking about making such a choice, Mita Brahma, principal consultant,
Bizmentor Consultancy Services, Gurgaon, says, “The money-in-hand is a
necessary and extremely important decision criterion while choosing a job,
but certainly not the most important one for a first job.The first job is an
introduction to the world of work, and sets the direction for future progress
at work. It is a time for working hard and getting huge on-the-job learning.
Family responsibilities are typically yet to grow. So, take that decision with
a long-term view, and ask yourself: What areas would I like to learn more
about? What are the prospects for this organisation and this industry?
Does the organisation has a nurturing environment, and can it give me
opportunities for growth?“ It has been said and heard a million times,
“Follow your dreams and the money will follow“. But, what is the guarantee
and what if you choose matter and soon realise that money had great
significance over matter? “While selecting your first job, it is very important
to pick matter (job content) over money (job pay). Your first job is like an
exercise in building your own instituition and a place where you find your
validation. Think big about yourself, but start small by selecting the right
company and the right job matter,“ shares Nikhil Arora, a CEO, founder
and a serial entrepreneur, who has mentored many start-ups.
Research over the years, have shown that most youngsters who tend to
choose matter only, often continue to excel in such jobs as compared to
their peers who choose money and frequently change jobs.
So, whatever you choose, make sure it makes you happy; be it matter
or money.
