Moving
on after a break-up
Women
generally end up taking the wrong turn after a break-up. Months later, they may
realise they had gone completely overboard. Here’s our advice on harmful
indulgences one should stay away from...
We’ve all been through times when there’s nothing else left to do, but to feel miserable. Those times, called post break-up moments, are when one can probably never take a logical call on what’s right and what should be done. And that’s when one ends up being silly and indulging in acts to be regretted later. Here’s a list of things we think you should avoid post a break-up.
HARMING YOURSELF
Don’t go on a drinking and smoking spree. Don’t consume drugs or go wild. It is uncalled for. You’ve already harmed yourself by being with the wrong person. Why add to it?
RANTING
Everyone wants to be on the ‘I-was-the-better-onein-the-relationship’ list. But, you don’t have to announce it to everybody you meet. Keep your stories reserved for the ones who are close to you.
MAINTAINING EX-FILES
After it’s over, don’t contact your ex, especially if the breakup was bad. We know it’s easier said than done, but think of ways to move on. Indulge in interesting activities and take up a hobby — make most of the time you have for yourself.
STALK HIM
You know he was mean, you know he left you, and you also know he’s with someone else. Kill the urge to visit his profile on social networking sites. Do not ask common friends about his whereabouts. Stop doing things that push you into the stalker zone. It will only make you more miserable.
SOCIAL NETWORKING MADNESS
Refrain from using social networking sites as a personal diary with hourly updates. Once you split, avoid the urge to let the post break-up poet in you take over your posts. Heed our advice and stay away from making public comments. You don’t want to be the butt of all jokes at the parties your ex attends, do you?
TAKING REVENGE
Feelings of revenge are normal. You would wish to meet new people and even hook up with someone — only for the pleasure of common friends informing your ex, ‘She’s found someone way hotter!’ It’s okay as far as you don’t get carried away too far. Give yourself time to clear the mess of your old relationship. Till then, just have fun.
