Swipe Velocity Tab
One look at the Swipe Velocity tablet and you will be impressed at the build quality. It is one of the few mid-range tablets with an allmetal back (similar to the iPad). Not only does this makes the tablet sturdier, but also gives it a premium look & feel.
This is the first tablet in India with an 8-inch screen and dual core processor that runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The screen has a 1024 x 768 pixel display — the same as what you get on the Apple iPad Mini now. Because it is an IPS panel, the screen has good viewing angles and is quite legible even under direct sunlight. There are just two buttons on the tablet — power and volume. The power button is placed next to the charging port while the volume keys are on the side. For connectivity, you get a mini HDMI port, micro USB port with USB host support (cable is in the box), microSD slot and a 3.5mm audio jack. However, it still uses a proprietary charging port.
Hardware specifications are top notch: 1.6Ghz dual core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB built-in storage amd a 4500 mAh battery. The performance is great too — smooth switching between apps, snappy navigation & quick app launches. One issue is that both cameras shoot pictures with visible noise, even when shooting outdoors. Also, the loudspeaker output is good enough for personal use only.
The battery lasted over four hours with continuous HD video playback. If you increase your budget, you can also go for iBall 's Slide i9702 tablet ( 14,999). It has a 9.7-inch display with similar hardware and 8,000 mAh battery.
