ENTREPRENEUR/STARTUP SPECIAL...IN SMALL TOWNS(4)

INDUSFACE
The Vadodara-based company was founded by former Ranji Trophy cricketer Ashish Tandon after he had to quit the game due to injury. His company protects websites and mobile applications of Fortune 500 organisations across the globe from hackers. Some of these customers include Saudi Arabian Oil Co., the world’s largest crude exporter, the government of Malaysia, healthcare major Johnson & Johnson as well as ICICI Bank, HP, Reliance and Essar Group. Its flagship product IndusGuard does daily automated scanning of websites for systems and application vulnerabilities and malware. Indusface has now also bagged contracts from Indian government organisations such as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. Though the company has set up marketing offices in other states, the research and development team is based in Vadodara. Tandon feels the quality of life is better in Vododara. “I was in Mumbai recently and of the eight hours I spent there, three hours got wasted in commuting,” said Tandon. Indusface, which has over 60 employees, expects to touch revenues of around $20 million in the next three years.
