Led by Muthukumar Ramalingam, Tharangini Rajaram and Manohar Jha, it provides knowledge process outsourcing services related to intellectual property and patents to customers in the US, Europe, Japan and Australia. “Thousands of people migrate to other cities in search of jobs. I wanted to create employment opportunities in my hometown,” said Ramalingam, a former Infosys employee. He feels that the work done by Dextrasys requires a scientific temperament and is intellectually very challenging. Most of staff hired by the company are either engineers or have a masters’ degree in subjects such as biotechnology and chemistry. Dextrasys clocks revenues of around Rs 1 crore per annum. As part of scaling up, it has launched finance and accounting services and has also set up a rural business process outsourcing arm in Mahadanapuram, a village on the highway to Coimbatore. “We have actually proved that high-end knowledge work can be executed from a place like Tiruchirapalli. We can even find the best talent here,” Ramalingam said.
