Yureka
Yu Televentures
India's first smartphone with Cyanogen operating system is also amongst the cheapest LTE phones to be available next year. The first device from Micromax's wholly-owned company Yu is targeted at geeks and tech enthusiasts. But it also packs a plethora of features for the average consumer including a 5.5-inch HD display, 64bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615, 1.5Ghz octa core processor, 2 GB RAM and 13 MP camera with Sony sensor.
Xiaomi Mi4
The Apple of China plans to bring next year the 5-inch full HD display device which has top-ofthe-line quad core Snapdragon 801 processor, 3 GB RAM, 13 MP camera with 4k video recording, 8 MP front camera, MIUi OS, 3,080 mAh battery with fast charging. Going by prices offered by Xiaomi in the past, the Mi4 is expected to be priced competitively which is likely to excite consumers.
Galaxy Note Edge Mi4 Samsung
The first smartphone from Samsung with a curved right edge making it a flexible display on which users can customise what they want to see, for instance, notifications, incoming calls, time, weather and even stock tickers. With 5.6-inch screen, top-of-the-line Snapdragon 805 processor, 3 GB RAM, 16 MP camera with optical image stabilisation and 4k video recording, fingerprint sensor, heart rate sensor and S-pen stylus, the Edge may indeed have an edge with a differentiated hardware.
Classic
Going back to its roots with the full Qwerty keyboard, physical navigation keys and trackpad, BlackBerry Classic brings back characteristic features of older BlackBerry devices such as the Bold or Curve, which were extremely popular in India. Some die-hard BlackBerry fans feel that the Canadian phone maker will indulge them. However, whether they will be appealed by the pricing, is another question the New Year will answer. With 3.5-inch screen, 1.5Ghz dual core Snapdragon processor, 2GB RAM, 8MP camera with full HD video recording, BlackBerry 10 OS which also runs Android apps can excite some buyers.
X5 MAX VIVO
Slimmest phone in world at 4.8mm, 5.5-inch full HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa core processor, 2GB RAM, 13MP rear camera, innovative SIM slot that doubles up as microSD slot, may well be eye-catching features in the crowded smartphone market, but the price appears to be on the higher side, specially when other brands are also selling slim devices which happen to be priced lower.
