PATAGONIA, MONTE FITZ ROY REGION:
Argentina
The second largest country in South America boasts of rich history, diverse cultural heritage and stunning mountains. The country also offers amazing opportunities to trek, hike and cycle. There are several interesting tours such as
free walking tours, downloadable MP3 walking tours, and running tours. Patagonia, the region is shared by Argentina and Chile and is known for its natural beauty and national parks: the Torres del Paine in Chile and Argentina’s Los Glaciares. Explore the black-tipped of Cuernos del Paine to the ice-clad pinnacles of Monte Fitz Roy. Another suggested hiking trip would be along the sapphire-coloured lakes in Torres del Paine. The Monte Fitz Roy trail, takes you in the direction of 40 major glaciers as you go from Fitz Roy to Rio Blanco, where you can relax and enjoy the campsite located at Cerro Poincenot. Fitz Roy is located at the northern tip of gorgeous Parque Nacional Los Glaciares. Other popular destinations within Monte Fitz Roy include Laguna de los Tres, Laguna Torre, and Cerro Eléctrico. Buenos Aires too has a number of walking tour options.
Tips while travelling to Argentina:
Hitchhiking in Argentina has been inspired by clubs in France, Italy and the United States. Fortunately, hitchhiking has become more acceptable among the younger generation, and raising a thumb at a highway is a symbol most people understand.
Many sockets have no ground pin. Laptop adapters should have little problem with this. Do buy an adapter once you reach Argentina. The official language is Spanish. Thus, it is advisable to download some translation apps on your smart phone.
