APP SPECIAL.....................Moving to a new city? Here's how apps can help

 Moving to a new city?
 Here's how apps can help

From getting dinner delivered to road directions,
mobile apps can be the best way to connect with
 and discover a new city

It's a massive disruption moving to a new city. Not only do you have to pack
all your belongings and worry about getting across, you'll likely be starting
from scratch when it comes to various things about the new city: food,
travel, services, accommodation and so on. But as long as you have that
smartphone with you, help is at hand. Start with these apps that can take
away some of the pain.

For groceries and daily needs
Finding vendors with quality groceries and other daily needs is not easy.
You can ask around but you're also likely to get confused.
Instead of trying out different shops, you can use apps from
BigBasket, LocalBanya, Grofers, Zopnow and Veggykart.
Between all of these, you should be set.

Get that food delivered
For t he first few days after moving, you might be too busy setting up your
place -cooking food at the end of a hard day of work will be a task .
And since you're new to the city, you probably won't know which restaurants
deliver to your area. The easy solution is to use apps like
Zomato Delivery, Just Eat and Tasty Khana once you enter your location,
you'll be able to place an order on the app itself.

Need a handyman or other service?
I n a new hou s e, ch a nc e s a r e t h at there'll be something that needs
to get fixed, cleaned or changed to suit your requirements.
That's where apps like UrbanClap, TimeSaverz, Z immber, House Joy and
Mr Right prove useful. They'll connect you with handymen for housekeeping
cleaning and car washing, to name a few.
Plus the usual suspects like an electrician, plumber and carpenter.

Help with the commute
If you've taken you r car along , you' l l need road directions for your commute.
If you don't mind using 3G4G data, nothing beats Google Maps for its
updated routes along with live traffic information.
If you need off line apps, try MapmyIndia and Here Maps.

No car? Use public transport
In case you need to use public transport, you'll need details like bus timings,
stops, train stations and schedules. Get Ridlr or ZopHop both apps offer details
on public trans port including the option to find the best way to travel from
one location to the other.

Too sick? Get your medicines delivered
Although finding chemists in most cities is not an issue, you might not have
the spare time to visit one during the moving process. We suggest that
you get apps like 1mg and Netmeds both apps offer free medicine delivery
to your doorstep and you'll even get a 10-15 per cent discount on every order.

Looking for flatmates?
Looking for a place to stay is one of the most difficult and tiring processes
you need to take your time on this one. Apps such as Housing, Common
Floor and Magicbricks are useful to locate available flats in a particular area.
There is also FlatChat. It directly connects you with home owners, PG owners
and other people looking for flats.
You can chat with them via the app and even explain your requirements.
Best of all, you avoid brokers.

Search for local businesses
Free apps such as Toost and Lookup are really useful when you want to get
information about local business (restaurants, pubs, spas, car and bike dealers,
schools , gyms , pet stores, florists, jewellery stores, bottled water dealers,
laundry services etc.) around your location. They have contact details as well as
user ratings for the shop s this makes it easier to figure out which
 shop to contact
