GADGET GIZMO Review ...................PORTABLE POWER

GADGET GIZMO Review PORTABLE POWER

While the portability of mobile phones and tablets makes them convenient, it also has one major problem: battery life. Chances are, you have experienced a low battery warning followed by your device shutting down on you, just when you needed it. That’s where power banks come in. A look  at a few portable chargers to give you a boost while on the move...

Portronics Superbox
THE PORTRONICS SUPERBOX is a pretty nifty device. It’s an external charger. Plug in a microSD card in the given slot and it’s a portable speaker and also acts as a dictaphone. Plus, it’s not too bad to look at, appearing kind of like a flat computer mouse. And it’s lightweight too.
The problem with the device is that it doesn’t do a stellar job of any of its functions. The speakers are loud, but they sacrifice quality and start crackling at high volumes.
For the voice recorder function to work, it needs to be held within 2-3 feet from the speaker to be audible later. And as a portable charger, it worked only with mobile phones, not tablets or laptops. Still, that’s a lot of functionality at just Rs 2,499 so it’s not a bad purchase.
SPECS:
WORKS WITH: Phones only, no tablets
TIME TO CHARGE: 4 hours
CAPACITY:: 2000mAh
TIME TO RECHARGE 2000MAH PHONE TO FULL BATTERY: 4.5 hours
Price: Rs 2,499

itek Portable 7800mAh Power Bank
WITH A RUBBER FINISH and a minimalist design, the itek Portable Power Bank feels tough, looks good and performs well – a complete package if ever there was one. The device has a high-capacity battery inside, which can fully charge any phone and partially charge most tablets. That’s right, this has the much-wanted 5V 2A output that lets you power up tablets.
What’s really convenient is that with its big battery, you can charge two devices at the same time as itek has included two USB output ports. There’s only one cable bundled though, so you’ll have to arrange for the second cable yourself. However, the bundled cable comes with several different adapters, letting you charge different device types, including Apple devices before the iPhone 5, any Android device using microUSB or miniUSB, Nokia phones and more.
SPECS:
WORKS WITH:
Phones and tablets
TIME TO CHARGE: 5.5 hours
CAPACITY: 7800mAh
TIME TO RECHARGE 2000MAH PHONE TO FULL BATTERY: 2 hours
Price: Rs 3,499

Rapoo A3160
IF YOU ENJOY your tunes and still want to recharge your phone, the Rapoo A3160 is a lovely little gadget. This is a Bluetooth speaker that connects to your device wirelessly to stream music and answer phone calls, but also includes a built-in battery and a USB cable slot at the base to charge your gadget.
The speakers are actually decent and if you need to use them to just listen to some songs while on the move, they get the job done. It’s loud enough to use in an enclosed space, including an A/C car, but not for pure outdoor usage. And don’t expect a thumping bass here. The A3160 is easy to set up and surprisingly good at hands-free calls, with parties at both ends of the line being able to hear each other clearly.
As a portable charger, it’s pretty handy too, giving you the option to quickly charge a phone, but it couldn’t power up an iPad or other tablets. And yes, using the music feature does drain its own battery pretty fast, so depending on your usage, you might be charging your charger more than charging your phone!
SPECS:
WORKS WITH: Phones only, no tablets
TIME TO CHARGE: 3.5 hours
CAPACITY: 2100mAh
TIME TO RECHARGE 2000MAH PHONE TO FULL BATTERY: 4.5 hours
Price: Rs 4,999

Yell BPS33m
IF STYLE IS what you are looking for, the Yell BPS33m is the way to go. It’s thin, it’s sleek, and it’s available in vibrant colours that make it look good. What I also really liked about the Yell BPS33 was that instead of a charger cable, the connector port is placed on a little swivel. So you can turn that upwards and your power bank turns into a dock where your phone can sit. It’s really quite cool and convenient.
However, the Yell BPS33 tends to heat up very quickly, which is a bit alarming. Also, since it has the built-in connector port, you can’t swap it out for any other cable, unlike most power banks that have a standard USB port. So if you need to charge an iPhone and a Samsung phone, you can’t do it on the same power bank – and it doesn’t work with tablet. You’ll need to buy the iPhone connector variant and the microUSB one separately.
SPECS:
WORKS WITH: Phones only, no tablets
 TIME TO CHARGE: 4.5 hours
Capacity: 2700mAh
TIME TO RECHARGE 2000MAH PHONE TO FULL BATTERY: 3.5 to 4hours

check 'contemporary draw'. older telephones do not draw greater than 1 ampere to fee their batteries. but, more moderen handsets and drugs need a 2.1 ampere input modern-day. test your cellular's unique plug for information on current draw. if feasible, purchase a powerbank with usb ports — 1a and a couple of.1a. take into account: when it comes to charging your gadgets, current draw is more crucial than capability.

basically, pay attention to the kind of cells — lithium-ion or lithium-polymer — used in the electricity financial institution. li-ion is reasonably-priced and effortlessly available. li-poly cells, alternatively, are extra costly, however offer twice as lots fee density according to unit weight.
