WEB APP TO MAKE YOUR LIFE EASIER -4

YAKiToMe for text to speech
If you’re one of those that would rather have someone read stuff aloud to you than read yourselves, then make haste to YAKiToMe. The resource takes almost all forms of input—keying in text, uploading a .pdf, .doc, .txt or html document, an RSS feed, or even by providing details of an email account—and converts it into an .mp3 or .wav file.
If you provide an RSS feed, YAKiToMe can check for updates and convert new posts automatically into a podcast. Similarly, you can have your e-mail read out to you by providing your POP server account details.
Your audio files can be searched, catalogued, shared with other users, and downloaded to your computer or media player for off-line listening. You can even select from a number of voices (male or female) with different accents, and provide the software with alternative pronunciation for words you think it messes up. All you need to make use of this free service is an account on the site, although you can access a number of podcasts created by others without an account.
