GADGET GIZMO REVIEW Sony Xperia M2 dual
One of the reasons Indian
manufacturers gained a lot of ground in smartphone share was dual SIM phones.
But now, dual SIM phones from global manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, LG and
Sony are being launched too. The Xperia M2 Dual is a new addition to Sony's
dual SIM lineup of devices.
Xperia M2 has a similar design
philosophy to the Xperia Z series. It has a unibody design with SIM and microSD
slot on the sides. It's just 8.6mm thick, fits comfortably in hand and even
allows for one hand operation. As usualy , we did not like the glossy finish
-it gets covered in smudges within a few minute of use.
The M2 has a 4.8-inch TFT display
with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels.
Even though the screen looks good and has decent viewing angles, the low resolution at this high price is a letdown. Phones with full HD display from Indian manufacturers are available for as low as `12,000.

The M2 has an 8MP rear camera that
uses Sony's Exmor RS sensor.
Sony has also included a camera interface that's similar to the Xperia Z1 -you get manual, timeshift, AR effects and various other modes.
However, the camera performance is below average. It takes average images in daylight, indoors the images lack details and have visible noise.
We were expecting much more.

In terms of performance, we did not
see any hiccups with all sorts if usage thanks to the quad core Snapdragon
processor and 1GB RAM. Battery life form the 2,300mAh battery is also
impressive with the phone lasting us over a day easily with heavy usage.
Overall, the Xperia M2 impresses in
terms of design & performance but the camera is a big disappointment.
Instead, get the LG L90 Dual -it's cheaper, has the same hardware, performance
& latest OS.
